Algorithmic Art

Skill Active

Creating algorithmic art using p5.js with seeded randomness and interactive parameter exploration. Use this when users request creating art using code, generative art, algorithmic art, flow fields, or particle systems. Create original algorithmic art rather than copying existing artists' work to avoid copyright violations.

Purpose

To empower users to generate unique, interactive algorithmic art through a structured, philosophical, and code-based approach.

Features

  • Generates algorithmic art using p5.js
  • Supports seeded randomness for reproducibility
  • Allows interactive parameter exploration via UI controls
  • Creates self-contained HTML artifacts with Anthropic branding
  • Guides users through creating an algorithmic philosophy

Use Cases

  • Creating generative art from code
  • Exploring flow fields and particle systems algorithmically
  • Generating unique visual art based on computational aesthetics
  • Designing interactive art pieces with tunable parameters

Non-Goals

  • Creating static images directly
  • Copying existing artists' work
  • Providing a general-purpose code editor
  • Generating art without a defined algorithmic philosophy

Workflow

  1. Define an algorithmic philosophy (4-6 paragraphs) emphasizing computational processes, seeded randomness, and parametric variation.
  2. Implement the philosophy using p5.js, starting from the provided `viewer.html` template, customizing parameters and the core algorithm.
  3. Ensure the generated HTML artifact is self-contained, includes Anthropic branding, and offers interactive controls for parameters and seed navigation.
  4. Output the philosophy as a .md file and the interactive art as a single HTML file.

Practices

  • Algorithmic expression
  • Parameter exploration
  • Code craftsmanship
  • Reproducible generation

Installation

npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates

Runs the Vercel skills CLI (skills.sh) via npx — needs Node.js locally and at least one installed skills-compatible agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, …). Assumes the repo follows the agentskills.io format.
